Happy New Year! The start of 2012 brings with it a new start, a fresh outlook and revitalized hope for a recovering economy and housing market. Everyone is looking forward to the future and the light at the end of the tunnel.
2011 ended on a strong note for the real estate market. The rest of the year remained somewhat flat for most regions. In many markets, sales and prices remained fairly steady, neither depreciating nor appreciating significantly year over year when compared to 2010. That's not necessarily bad news.
Flat means that prices and sales have stabilized in many regions. Though sharp surges in growth were nonexistent, the steep decline that the industry began to experience in 2007 has slowed significantly or has ended completely in the majority of markets. In some communities, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage saw a rise in home sales and prices, bidding wars, and overall improvement.
Real estate is extremely local so to determine exactly how your community fared in 2011, look to the links on the right or ask your Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage sales professional who can explain how pricing, inventory and recent sales in your area can impact your local market.
Of course the real answer everyone wants to know is what will happen to real estate in 2012. Though some economists and industry watchers have various opinions, we at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage remain positive that 2012 will continue to show improvement. Improvement may not take place at lightning speed, but remember steady always wins the race. Steady also means a healthy and balanced market.
More so now than ever, real estate remains a long term investment that can bring long term gain. With proper planning, a home purchase has historically proven to be one of the strongest investments one can make. Additionally, we purchase homes because of lifestyle changes and necessity. We all need a place to live, so despite fluctuations in the market, we at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage know that there is value in owning real estate in 2012 and beyond.
If you want to own a home, or if you need more detailed information about selling a home in today's market, please feel free to contact me to explain the home buying and selling process, the benefits of homeownership, and can guide you through each step of the way.
From all of us at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, happy New Year! We look forward to assisting you with all of your real estate needs in 2012 and beyond.
